To celebrate a birthday the other night we decided to go to The Thai Orchid. A well known local restaurant, with a large menu of delicious thai dishes. The night was superb with a great atmosphere and truly scrumptious meals. We ordered several dishes to share although the do have a banquet option. I recommend this as things like soup are often superfluous.

Not all of us were adventurous and used to food from a variety of ethnicities so we stayed safe with the garlic and pepper chicken, the singapore sizzling steak and the scallops with cashews. All were very good although I thought the scallops and cashews were a little bland (I was the only one in the group).

The whole experience was fabulous despite the staff lapsing a few times to make sure we were happy, the plates were cleared and orders taken.

With prices ranging from $20 - $30 a dish, t is a little expensive for an ethnic restaurant but very affordable for a fining dining experience. I am always happy to visit the Thai Orchid and recommend it to anyone visiting Palmy.

There are not may places in Palmy where you can find a cafe with great spaces, well lit and cheerful helpful staff. OE Cafe has certainly cornered the market. Making the most of a well lit open spaces of Square Edge, OE Cafe has set themselves up with a superb menu.

Today I ordered th
e pasta of the day and my partner ordered the chicken club sandwich. My pasta was perfect. A fresh tomato chicken pasta which took me back to my childhood. A great balance of flavors saw me devour it without ever letting Kerry in with a chance to taste it.
Kerry's Chicken club sandwich did not really look anything like a
club sandwich, instead resembled more of a chicken B.L.A.T. With a generous serving of ingredients it was thoroughly enjoyed. A fully licensed Cafe we made the most of their range of locally brewed Tuatara beers.

It is not often when you sit down and feel so welcome in a Cafe, too often one feels like a number. At OE Cafe I could not help but notice how all of the staff engaged in conversation with the patrons, offering directions etc. Never feeling fake or contrived the staff seemed genuine at all times. One truly felt like one of the family.

Priced from $15 - $20 the menu was affordable and on par with Cafe dining in Palmerston North. An around great experience I would recommend OE Cafe to anyone looking for a friendly lunch or cheerful cup of coffee.
